Pledge 20

"The cooperation is just super. Short lines, and you always think along."
In the heart of Lindeheuvel in Geleen, Pand 20 is an accessible business for everyone in the neighbourhood. What once started as Roel's little chip shop grew into a complete restaurant with a lunchroom, takeaway counter and cosy seating areas. Together with Chantal, he now runs a popular place where regular customers and new faces meet every day. “We definitely wanted to stay in this neighbourhood. We wanted to keep that familiar feeling, even in larger premises,” says Chantal.

From chip shop to lunch room

Before Pand 20 opened its doors, Roel ran a small chip shop a bit further down the road for years. “You couldn't sit there. Everything went home with you,” Chantal explains. “Roel wanted more space, but to stay in the same neighbourhood.” The new premises offered just that opportunity. In 2020, they moved to their current location, a former supermarket that they converted into what it is today with the help of family. “A week before we were to open with the new business, Corona started. That was tough, but we got through it together.”

Everyone is welcome here!

What makes Pand 20 special? The atmosphere ánd the crowd. “From young girls who come for a sandwich together to elderly people with a walker who want to get out and about. Everyone feels welcome here,” says Chantal. With a team of 14 staff and a clear division of tasks, the business runs like clockwork. “Roel takes care of everything in the fryer, I focus on the sandwiches. And where he prefers to just sell chips and frikandells, I'm always looking for new combinations.”

Digital steps with Roltex

In the first business, things were still going with a simple cash register and a receipt pad. But for Pand 20, Roel and Chantal consciously chose automation. “You don't have to write anything down anymore. Everything immediately ends up where it should be,” Chantal explains. The switch to table service was exciting, but a good choice in hindsight. “In the beginning, we had to learn a lot, but now it just works well. It's clear, fast and efficient.”

Honest, quick and committed

The cooperation with Roltex is considered very pleasant. “The lines are short and you notice that you are just as involved as we are,” says Chantal. “Once something goes wrong, you guys are really working on the solution, which just feels right.” Roel, who does not call himself a digiman, is now also convinced. “He said the other day: if I had known then what I know now, we would do it again in a heartbeat.”
